Create your own kids growth wall ruler

Growing up you would generally see a wall or piece of trim where my friends parents were keeping track of their kids heights. The catch – hmm what happens when they sell the home or it is time to paint? For a generic piece of trim, no problem as it can be easily replaced – trying to find the same piece of trim a few years later, well that can sometimes be an issue forcing many parents to simply paint over that history. How about making your own ruler that you can take with you?

Create your own custom growth ruler:

Talk about simple, in this case I grabbed a simple piece of oak jamb, trimmed it down some, sanded & stained it.

Originally I thought about routing out the “tic” marks out but decided to quite simply go with a silver paint marker especially with how dark the stain came out. Who knows, maybe one day I will get a Dremel & revisit the idea…

Looking for another idea? Consider painting the wood white & adding some decorative vinyl stickers on it or adding a special phrase to it.

While Velcro may work for some items, this isn’t one of them. Also using art hangers or something similar also wouldn’t work as well either. In this case, the best option is to simply nail it up or consider predrilling the wood with a counter-sink bit & screwing it to the wall.

Me & Stencils
