The Adjusted Volume is a means of determining the energy efficiency of a regular refrigerator / freezer combo. As a freezer is colder than a refrigerator and yet they use the same condenser, etc… they have to account for the additional power required. they do this by bumping up the overall volume of the appliance. ENERGY STAR uses the following method: AV = (Refrigerator aka Fresh Volume) + (1.63 x (Freezer Volume))
