Light Reflectance Value

Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is a number used to express the amount of visible and usable light reflected by a surface when illuminated by a light source. For example a pure white glossy test card would have a value of a 100 while pure black would equal a 0. Needless to say those combinations are very rare so you are generally looking at a value ranging anywhere from 5 into the high 80’s. If you are looking for a lighter airy feeling you would start looking at colors with a 50 or above, while if you are looking for a more subdued, comfortable, cozy area you would be looking at a value of 50 or less
