Zone

A zone is essentially a space or group of spaces which can be maintained with a single controlling device.For example;

  • Your Air Conditioning might just have a single thermostat for the entire house (which would be considered one zone) or you might have multiple zones / thermostats for different areas in the house.
  • While many only consider zones in the lighting arena to be a “commercial” or “industrial” application it is starting to move into the residential arena as well. For example you may have one light switch that turns on not only the entryway light but a few others throughout the house – this would be considered one zone.
