Thursday Tip: Don’t forget those bolts

Can you imagine my surprise yesterday when the garage door would only open up about a foot? I was slightly flummoxed as I could manually open it, the garage door opener was working fine, but put together the garage door still wouldn’t go past a foot without the motor tripping. I even looked at the spring and it appeared fine, so what in the world is the issue?

garage-door-ouchBingo, found it – the garage door was actually crashing into the track (now I know what the slight clunk sound I had been hearing for the last few days was). But why was it crashing into the track… Ahhh it is a pieced together track instead of a single piece one & the bolts had worked loose just a hair.

garage-door-fixThe fix was easy, push up on the track to get it into it’s proper position & tighten down all the bolts. Voila it works now…

Hey if yours is working great now – no worries, just make sure you check it & lube the necessary parts at least once a year. We have it down on our Monthly maintenance list for March, when it is a lot warmer
