A Green Go-Getter By Kelley Pearsall, BuilderLink Staff

builderlinkSean Lintow Sr., owner of SLS Construction based in Cullman, Alabama, understands how important it is to aid in the progression of green building. In fact, after 20 years of working off and on in the building industry, this past year Lintow officially added a ‘green arm’ to the SLS Construction family of services in the form of Alabama Green Building Solutions and Services. While building green is the current trend that’s sweeping the industry, in speaking to Lintow, it soon becomes clear that he is not just jumping on the green bandwagon—he’s a gentleman who is always about doing things correctly using the modern tools and practices at his disposal.

Raising awareness of energy efficiency practices in Alabama is currently a top priority for Lintow, as he works everyday to bring local construction up to modern standards. “The state is ranked 48th in the country for energy efficiency right now. Some of the bigger cities are requiring energy tests now, so I hope more of the smaller cities follow,” says Lintow.  And while Lintow feels strongly about contributing his knowledge and services towards the betterment of his community, he also has a light-hearted outlook pertaining to green building and energy conservation. “I went to the classes and got the certifications to do these things, and I prefer it because it’s better for my back,” jokes Lintow, when comparing performing energy audits to working on remodels/rebuilds.
