Tired of staining and all that other maintenance that a wood deck requires?

How would you like to maintain this 540 Square Foot deck with 44 Lineal Feet of balusters & 58 Lineal Feet of Railing? Well based off the work involved, cost to hire someone to do it, amount of time the deck can’t be walked on and a problem with VOC’s – the decision was easy. It is time to re-skin it with a composite material. While you still have to sweep it & occasionally clean it, almost all the other maintenance tasks associated with a wood deck are gone.

There are only 2 composite decking products  we will even consider using based off of actual product results in the field and support if required. (Correct Deck & TimberTech) In this case we went with the Correct Deck CX decking and railing system. (UPDATE: Correct Deck was bought by GAF – unfortunatly GAF got out of the decking market and Correct Deck is no longer available. Fortunatly there are now numerous other products that are now proven materials we will not only recomend but use)

The first 3 pictures show the deck before work started on it, while the last picture shows a picture of the product being installed. We wen’t with the channeled product which allows us to use the companies hidden fastening system called the Fastenator. As the Fastenator protects the joists from water – all that was left was protecting the rim joists from sitting water. You can see the membrane being used towards the right of the picture. This membrane helps insure that the deck framing will last hopefully as long as the decking which has a limited lifetime warranty.
